Journalist Vikram Joshi, who was hospitalised after being shot at by unknown miscreants near his residence in Vijay Nagar, Ghaziabad on June 20, passed away on Wednesday.
He was shot in the head by miscreants when he was travelling on a motorcycle with his two daughters in the Vijay Nagar area.
Joshi was taken to a hospital where his condition was said to be critical.
According to the police, nine people have been arrested in the case so far.
The incident occurred, days after Joshi filed a police complaint about his niece being harassed by a group of men.
CCTV visuals show that a group of men stopped Vikram Joshi and started assaulting him in front of his two daughters. The accused then dragged Joshi towards a car and hit him before running away from the spot.
Yesterday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the incident in a tweet and said, “If this is the law and order situation in Ghaziabad, which is in NCR, so you can get an idea of the law and order situation across Uttar Pradesh. A journalist was shot at because he had filed a complaint about his niece being harassed. As the law of jungle prevails, how can a common man feel safe?”
