Coronavirus cases in India rise to 11,92,915; Death toll at 28,732

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 11,92,915 as it recorded 37,724 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 28,732 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Wednesday.

There are 4,11,133 active cases while 7,53,049 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 3,27,031 with 12,276 fatalities.

Tamil Nadu has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 1,80,643 with 2,626 deaths followed by Delhi – 1,25,096 and 3,690 deaths, Karnataka – 71,069 with 1,464 deaths, Andhra Pradesh – 58,668 and 758 deaths, Uttar Pradesh – 53,288 and 1,229 deaths and Gujarat – 50,379 and 2,196 fatalities.

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Wednesday said a total of 1,47,24,546 samples have been tested up to July 21 of which 3,43,243 samples were tested yesterday.
