UP ATS arrests DRDO employee for leaking BrahMos missile secrets to Pakistan

UP Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in coordination with military intelligence has nabbed a man employed with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) on October 8 in suspicion of leaking sensitive details about the nuclear-capable BrahMos cruise missile and crucial information of national importance to Pakistan.

The man is identified as Nishant Agarwal and was arrested from BrahMos production centre near Nagpur, where he was working from past four years.

He has been currently taken into custody and the ATS is questioning him for the extent of information leaked to Pakistan and raids relating to the alleged espionage were ongoing.

According to sources some suspicious material was recovered from Agarwal’s possession.

It is alleged that Agarwal was leaking information about technical facets of the medium range supersonic cruise missiles to his handlers in Pakistan.

Brahmos, the fastest cruise missile in the world can be launched from submarine, aircraft or land and is a joint venture between the Russian Federation’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya and India’s DRDO.
