President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday gave additional charge of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to Union Minister Piyush Goyal.
“The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed that Shri Piyush Goyal, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, in addition to his existing portfolios,” said an official press release by the President Kovind’s office.
Piyush Goyal is replacing late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, who passed away on Thursday at the age of 74. Paswan was hospitalised for the last few weeks and underwent heart surgery in Delhi.
