At least four people were killed and several wounded after gunmen opened fire on people at Vienna’s cafes and restaurants on Monday night.
Federal Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Austria, Karl Nehammer appealed to the people to stay at home and told that one perpetrator was eliminated.
In a series of tweets, Karl said, “This is one of the most difficult days for us in Austria. We were able to eliminate one perpetrator, at least one is on the run. My appeal: 1. Please stay at home. 2. Avoid downtown. 3. Tomorrow there is no compulsory schooling in Vienna.”
“We can deal with this situation together if we behave in a disciplined manner and let the police do their job. Many thanks to all police officers and rescue workers. Our thoughts are with the victims and their families,” Karl added.
