Two dead, four hospitalised after gas leak at pharmaceutical firm in Visakhapatnam

At least two people were killed and four were hospitalised following leakage of benzimidazole gas at Sainor Life Sciences in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam.

According to the sources, the situation is under control now and the two persons who died were workers and were present at the leakage site.

The leakage of gas was reported at around 11.30 pm on Monday. “The factory was shut down immediately as a precautionary measure,” according to officials.

According to the statement by Andhra Pradesh CM’s Office, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has enquired about the accident at the pharma company in Visakhapatnam.

The latest incident came nearly two months after 12 people lost their lives and several were hospitalized due to a gas leak in LG Polymers chemical plant in Visakhapatnam.
