Supreme Court to hear Shaheen Bagh matter on March 23

The Supreme Court today fixed March 23 as the date for further hearing in the Shaheen Bagh matter. The court was hearing pleas seeking removal of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters from Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area.

The court said it is time for everyone to cool down.

The apex court had adjourned the hearing in the matter after the mediators submitted their report in a sealed cover on Monday.

On February 17, the Top Court had set up a mediation team to hold talks with the Shaheen Bagh protesters to move to another location where no public place would be blocked.

Many people have been staging a sit-in protest at Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area since mid-December last year against the CAA and National Register of Citizens (NRC).
