The Samajwadi Party (SP) on Monday changed its candidate in the Lok Sabha Varanasi seat and fielded the sacked BSF jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Tej Bahadur was dismissed from his service after he complained in a video about poor quality of food served to the armed forces.
The former BSF jawan had earlier announced that he will contest as an independent candidate from Varanasi.
SP has replaced Shalini Yadav as its candidate in the Varanasi constituency who had been named as the alliance’s candidate a week back.
Varanasi will go for voting on May 19 and the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
