An Indian Army soldier posted in Leh, Ladakh has tested positive for coronavirus and been placed in an isolation ward at a hospital, said Army sources.
According to the sources, soldier’s father had a travel history to Iran.
His father had returned from Iran on February 27. The soldier was on casual leave from February 25 to March 1 and was staying with his family when his father arrived. He rejoined duty on March 2.
His father was quarantined from February 29 and reported positive for COVID-19 on March 6 and was isolated at Sonam Norbu Memorial (SNM) Hospital,” said Army sources.
After his father tested positive, the soldier was also quarantined on March 7 and detected to be positive on March 16. He has been isolated.
The soldier’s sister, wife and children have also been quarantined.
The number of positive coronavirus cases in India rose to 147 on Wednesday, Health Ministry said.
