Sidhu ends hunger strike after Ashish Mishra appears before police

Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu on Saturday ended his hunger strike after Union Minister Ajay Mishra’s son Ashish appeared before UP crime branch in connection with a probe into the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

Congress leader Navjot Sidhu had started a hunger strike on Friday in Lakhimpur at the house of journalist Raman Kashyap, who died in the violence on October 3.

He demanded the arrest of the Union Minister’s son. To this end, he had started a hunger strike on Friday. The latter had died in the violence on October 3.

Sidhu was demanding the arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni’s son Ashish Mishra.

The Uttar Pradesh Police on Monday filed an FIR for murder against Ashish Mishra. Eight people died in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident on October 3, said Uttar Pradesh police.
