Former IAS topper-turned-politician Shah Faesal who recently floated a new political party J&K People’s Movement has decided against contesting the upcoming Parliament polls in the state.
Faesal held a press conference in Srinagar today to announce his party’s decision. He said he will work to strengthen the party in the state before taking a plunge into the electoral process.
Earlier this year, Faesal had resigned from his job to float a new party. He has since held two political rallies, one in Kupwara and one in Srinagar on the day of launching his party. Both of his rallies drew large crowds.
Faesal has so far plied a middle of the road politics that mainly focusses on the good governance and the development of the state. He has said that the dispute over J&K was there to solve between India and Pakistan and that the Kashmiri parties didn’t have a role beyond facilitating and supporting a Kashmir solution.
