At least seven people were killed after a gas leakage at a chemical plant in Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam, officials said.
The incident took place early morning on Thursday at LG Polymers in RR Venkatapuram village in Visakhapatnam.
Several villagers were rushed to hospitals with complaints of headache, burning sensation in eyes vomiting and breathing problems.
According to the sources, ambulances, fire tenders and policemen have reached the chemical plant.
“There is gas leakage identified at LG Polymers in Gopalpatnam. Requesting Citizens around these locations not to come out of houses for the sake of safety precautions,” the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) tweeted.
“As precautionary measures, the colonies and villages around the industry may leave to the safer locations. PLEASE USE WET CLOTH AS MASK TO COVER NOSE AND MOUTH,” GVMC added.
