Punjab Government has decided to reopen schools in the areas outside containment zones from October 19 for the students of class 9 to 12, said School Education Minister of Punjab Vijay Inder Singla.
He said along with physical classes, online classes will continue as usual.
“Happy to share Punjab Govt under Hon’ CM @Capt_Amarinderji has taken the decision to reopen schools from 19th Oct- keeping in line with Centre Govt guidelines for Classes 9th-12th,” Singla tweeted.
According to the press statement released by the state government, “the Chief Minister has allowed opening of government schools from Monday, 19th of October, after due sanitation and disinfection procedures, and with clear SOPs mandating parents’ consent, as well as ceiling on number of students and hours of operation.”
On Thursday, the Punjab government had decided not to open multiplexes and cinema halls in the state. However, the government has allowed Ramlila events with certain conditions pertaining to COVID-19 pandemic.
