Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has been transferred to Goa, a statement from President Ram Nath Kovind’s office said on Friday. The Union expenditure secretary Girish Chandra Murmu and former Defence secretary Radha Krishna Mathur has been named as Lieutenant Governors of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh.
In Goa, Malik will take over from Mridula Sinha.
The changes came more than two months after the central government revoked Article 370, that granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir and split the state into two union territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The two Union Territories will come into existence on October 31.
In another appointment, BJP Kerala unit president PS Sreedharan Pillai has been named the new governor of Mizoram, the statement said.
“The above appointments will take effect from the dates they assume charge of their respective offices,” it added.
