Actor Rhea Chakraborty’s brother Showik was on Wednesday granted bail by a special court in Mumbai, nearly three months after his arrest in a drugs case linked to actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The Mumbai court cited a recent Supreme Court order which said that statements or confessions made to Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officials cannot be considered as evidence.
Showik Chakraborty was arrested in September after being questioned by the NCB, which is probing the drug angle in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Rhea Chakraborty was released on bail in October, nearly a month after her arrest.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead on June 14 in his Mumbai apartment. The actor’s family has accused Rhea Chakraborty of abetting his suicide and misappropriating his funds.
