UK based rapper Hard Kaur has been booked for sedition over her remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on social media, police said on Thursday.
She was also booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for posting objectionable remarks.
The complaint was filed in Varanasi by lawyer Shashank Shekhar on Wednesday under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) that includes sedition.
The complaint will be forwarded to the cyber cell for further investigation, sources said.
Hard Kaur had posted “derogatory comments” against Yogi Adityanath and blamed the RSS for Hemant Karkare’s death.
Hard Kaur aka Taran Kaur Dhillon is a Punjabi and Hindi rap singer and has sung in Bollywood movies as well.
