Rajya Sabha suspended a Trinamool Congress MP Shantanu Sen from the monsoon session on Friday, a day after he tore the Pegasus statement of IT minister Ashwini Vaishnav for his unparliamentary behaviour.
On Thursday, Shantanu Sen snatched and tore the papers being read by IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Pegasus snooping controversy.
Subsequently, the proceedings of Lok Sabha adjourned till Monday and Rajya Sabha will reconvene at 2:30 PM, amid ruckus by other opposition members over numerous issues including the Pegasus controversy and farmers’ protest over 3 Farm laws.
Sen was among the several opposition leaders who raised the slogans of “Jasoosi band karo, band karo (stop spying)”.The motion was passed by a voice vote and Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu asked Sen to leave the House.
Other opposition leader Rahul Gandhi also slammed the government, saying the Pegasus spyware “is a weapon classified by Israeli states to use against terrorists”. “PM and the home minister have used Pegasus against us. This has to be investigated and the home minister must resign,” he added.
