The grand opening ceremony of the Tokyo Olympics was held at the Olympic Stadium in Tokyo on Friday. The fans were disappointed as the official broadcaster Sony Sports Network, presented a split-screen that showed Indian athlete on one side and Union Minister Anurag Thakur cheering for the Indian contingent on the other side of the screen.
During India’s march at the parade of Nations at the Tokyo Olympics opening ceremony, the host broadcasters showed Sports Minister Anurag Thakur in half of the screen.
The upset fan tweeted – “What was the need of showing Anurag Thakur here, and reducing screen size of Indian athlete!”. Another admirer tweet said “split –screen of Anurag Thakur and Indian athletes at Olympics is not done”
