Prime Minister Narendra Modi to chair 13th BRICS Summit on 9th September

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the 13th BRICS Summit in a virtual format. The 13th Brazil, Russia, India, China, South – Africa summit will hold on 9th September.

The theme for the Summit is ‘BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS cooperation for continuity, consolidation and consensus’.

The issue of Afghanistan can also be discussed in this summit. Apart from India, countries like China, Russia, South Africa, and Brazil are also included in the conference.

India had outlined four priority areas for its chairship. These are reform of the multilateral System, Counter Terrorism, Digital and Technological Tools for achieving SDGs and Enhancing People to people exchanges.

In addition to these areas, the representatives of all countries will also express their views about the impact of Covid-19 and the recent world and personal troubles.

This is the second time Prime Minister Modi will be chairing the BRICS Summit. Earlier he had chaired the Goa Summit in 2016. The Indian chairship of BRICS this year coincides with the fifteenth anniversary of BRICS, as reflected in the theme for the summit.
