Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said India has set an ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 as he addressed the nation from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of the 80th Independence Day. He highlighted India’s progress over the past 12 years and said the country has emerged as a major and the fastest-growing economy in the world.
PM Modi said that the efforts and determination of crores of citizens have helped India overcome several challenges and move towards new heights. He noted that 25 crore people have come out of poverty during this period. He also highlighted India’s progress in energy security, manufacturing, technology and infrastructure.
The Prime Minister said India is working towards achieving 100 gigawatts of nuclear power capacity by 2047 and plans to commission five new nuclear reactors during the current decade. He also urged MSMEs to take advantage of Free Trade Agreements with nearly 40 countries and expand the reach of Indian products globally.
Focusing on the youth, PM Modi announced that one crore young people will receive AI training over the next year. He also announced free online coaching for poor and middle-class students preparing for public examinations. A nationwide talent hunt for children aged five to 15 years was also announced to identify and nurture sporting talent.
Calling for faster progress, PM Modi outlined the ‘Sapt Dhara’ approach and said India must harness its strengths to achieve bigger goals in the coming years.
