Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation’s 80th Independence Day celebrations from the historic Red Fort in Delhi on August 15. The Prime Minister will unfurl the National Flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort and address the nation.
The ceremonial flag unfurling will be synchronised with a 21-gun salute. Following the unfurling, flower petals will be showered over the venue by two Mi-17 helicopters of the Indian Air Force.
This year’s celebrations will highlight ‘Yuva Shakti for Viksit Bharat@2047’, focusing on the contribution of India’s youth towards building a developed nation by 2047. The celebrations will also commemorate 150 years of the national song ‘Vande Mataram’.
In a significant first, ‘Vande Mataram’ will be rendered as part of the Independence Day ceremony at the Red Fort. The event is expected to showcase India’s cultural heritage, national spirit and the aspirations of its young population.
Prime Minister Modi’s address from the Red Fort will be broadcast nationwide, marking another major occasion in the country’s annual Independence Day celebrations.
