Three policemen named Subodh Kujur, Vinod Kerketta and Suyom Surin who were deployed at the house of BJP MP Karia Munda, at Ghagra village in Murhu block of Khunti District, were abducted on June 26 by the supporters of ‘Pathalgarhi’, a senior police officer said.
RK Malik, Additional director general of police (ADGP), has said that the supporters of ‘Pathalgarhi’ barged into the house of the Lok Sabha MP at Anigada-Chandidih and took away the three policemen and their weapons in the afternoon.
The three men were abducted in retaliation to the police raid to arrest the leaders of the so-called Pathalgadi movement accused of masterminding the gangrape of five women activists last week.
“We raided the houses of Tidu and Purty in the morning. It seems that Pathalgadi supporters helped them to escape but we have attached their properties,” Ashwini Kumar Sinha, Khunti Superintendent of Police said.
“The police have identified the location of the abducted policemen and all measures are been taken to rescue them,” ADGP Malik said.
Pathalgadi leaders have reportedly said that they are ready to hold talks but on the condition that authorities will send a team of only five officials for the negotiations.
