Kejriwal administered insulin in Tihar: AAP

New Delhi: Incarcerated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was given insulin in Tihar jail for the first time after ED arrest, AAP sources said on Tuesday.

“Kejriwal’s sugar level was continuously getting high and his sugar had gone up to 320, ” claimed AAP sources.

However, the Tihar jail administration is yet to comment on it.

Meanwhile, the AAP leader took to X and shared information regarding the insulin given to Kejriwal, who is lodged in Jail no 2, in the alleged excise scam.

“Good news on Hanuman Jayanti. News is coming that finally the jail administration gave insulin to the Chief Minister for his increasing sugar level. Today, the Chief Minister of the country’s capital has to go to court even for insulin. Officers under the BJP and the Central government say that all prisoners are the same, ” Delhi AAP Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj wrote on X.

“Do all Tihar prisoners go to court for insulin? Do all prisoners have to go to court for medical treatment? Do all prisoners have to spend a week on TV and in newspapers debating about insulin?” he further stated.

“Tihar administration finally gave insulin to Arvind Kejriwal. This is the result of Hanumanji’s blessings and the struggle of the people of Delhi. Even during this period of struggle, the blessings of Bajrang Bali remain on all of us, ” Atishi wrote on X on Tuesday.

This comes a day after a Delhi court turned down the application moved by incarcerated Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal seeking permission to consult a private doctor of his choice daily for 15 minutes through video conferencing for his “acute” diabetes and “fluctuating” blood sugar levels.

However, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja of Rouse Avenue Court stressed that the AAP leader be provided with adequate medical treatment while he remains under judicial custody.

The court ordered that in case CM Kejriwal requires special consultation in jail, the prison authorities will consult the medical panel to be constituted by the Director of AIIMS Delhi.

Forces within & outside the country joined hands to defeat me : PM Modi

Bengaluru: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that “big and powerful people” from within India and outside the country have united to defeat him in the Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing a massive gathering in Karnataka’s Chikkaballapur city, PM Modi said that the first phase of voting has uplifted the spirit of the people in the country.

“With the blessings of ‘Nari Shakti’ and ‘Matru Shakti’, Modi is successfully facing the challenges and marching ahead. The INDIA bloc does not have a leader for the future, and also does not have a vision for the future as well, ” PM Modi said.

“The highest number of beneficiaries of Modi government’s schemes are SC, ST and OBC families. During the tenure of the earlier governments, they lived in filth, did not get electricity and water, and they had lost hope from the government. Modi has rekindled their hopes on the government. The fact that 25 crore people are being lifted out of poverty in the country substantiates the fact, ” PM Modi said.

PM Modi, speaking at the rally, also said that those who were earlier called at last are being placed on the frontline today.

“A daughter from a tribal family went on to become the first citizen of the country, ” PM Modi said, adding: “Under the development for all objectives, the NDA government has prioritised the education of Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC) and youth.

“These sections are beneficiaries of Mudra Scheme which provides loans. It is being planned to increase the loan amount from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 20 lakh, ” PM Modi said.

He said that the Congress government has betrayed the farmers by stopping the Rs 4 crore subsidy given by the state government during the previous BJP government in Karnataka. “I am sure you will punish the anti-farmer Congress government, ” PM Modi said.

The Prime Minister further said: “The poor people of this country did not think that they would get free ration. This has been turned into reality. Lakhs of families are availing of free treatment. In Chikkaballapur, 4 lakh families have benefitted from this. Free treatment would be given to senior citizens who are above the age of 70 years, up to Rs 5 lakh.

“In the last 10 years, in Chikkaballapur and Kolar, 25, 000 houses have been built. Three crore more houses will be built.”

PM Modi also said that the Nandi Hills, located close to Bengaluru, will be developed as a weekend getaway. “The NDA gets inspiration from Nadaprabhu Kempe Gowda (founder of Bengaluru) to develop modern infrastructure, ” PM Modi added.

What’s wrong if Rahul Gandhi contests from two places, Modi did it too: KC Venugopal

Alappuzha (Kerala) : Reacting sharply to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remark that the Congress party’s ‘Yuvaraj’ (Rahul Gandhi) ran away from North India to South India, AICC general secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal on Saturday said they never knew that it was Modi who was selecting candidates for the Congress.

Venugopal, who is fighting it out from the Alappuzha Lok Sabha constituency, was reacting to the interview of PM Modi given to a TV channel wherein he belittled Rahul Gandhi.

“Isn’t Wayanad in India and didn’t Modi contest from two seats in the past? It’s surprising that Modi is saying such things and we never knew that it was Modi who was selecting the Congress candidates. Moreover what’s wrong if Rahul contests from two seats, ” asked Venugopal.

Venugopal further pointed out that Modi has become jittery and that’s why he is often saying that the BJP-led NDA will win 400 seats.

“Modi finally appears to have realised that he is on the back foot and is trying to instil confidence by repeatedly saying about crossing 400 seats. Everyone knows what the reality is going to be, ” added Venugopal.

Meanwhile, veteran Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) legislator P.K. Kunhalikutty said there was nothing wrong with Rahul Gandhi contesting from two seats and their party general secretary PMA Salam said Vijayan was spreading canards that Rahul did not speak about CAA, in fact at Kozhikode addressing a mammoth rally he emphasised about CAA.

“He spoke in English and it was translated into Malayalam too, ” said Salam. Vijayan since he began his election campaign has attacked Gandhi for not speaking a word on CAA.

Congress, CPI-M not part of INDIA bloc in Bengal: Mamata Banerjee

Kolkata :  Trinamool Congress supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed on Friday that the Congress and the CPI-M are not constituents of the opposition INDIA bloc in Bengal.

“In Bengal, the Congress and the CPI-M are clandestine partners of the BJP. They are not the constituents of the INDIA bloc in the state. So do not vote for them in West Bengal, as that will mean helping the BJP indirectly, ” the Chief Minister said while addressing an election rally in Murshidabad.

She also launched a scathing attack against the Election Commission of India (ECI) for the latter’s emphasis on the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) over the state police.

“How can you conduct the polls by totally discarding the state police? Is this a ploy to ensure that people don’t vote freely, ” the Chief Minister questioned.

She also explained why she is against the implementation of the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme.

“There are lots of restrictions on availing the benefits of this Central scheme. Even the owner of a two-wheeler cannot avail of its benefits. We want the scheme to be for all, ” the Chief Minister said.

CM Kejriwal eating mangoes to raise sugar level to seek bail: ED alleges in Delhi court

New Delhi :  The Enforcement Directorate (ED) alleged in a Delhi court on Thursday that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is deliberately eating mangoes and other high-carb food in Tihar Jail to raise his blood sugar level to build a case for bail.

Arguing the matter before Special Judge Rakesh Syal of the Rouse Avenue Court, special counsel Zoheb Hossain appearing for the ED said on the one hand CM Kejriwal is claiming high sugar levels, and at the same time he is eating mangoes, sweets, etc. in jail.

The Delhi Chief Minister is in judicial custody till April 23 for his alleged involvement in the excise policy case.

The ED has alleged that CM Kejriwal is consciously consuming items like tea with sugar, banana, sweets (1/2 pieces), poori, aloo sabji, etc. on a regular basis, despite being a Type 2 diabetes patient, “knowing very well that consumption of such items results in an increase in sugar levels”.

The agency also said that this is being done to create a medical emergency “to obtain sympathetic treatment from the court on medical grounds”.

“Further, the jail authorities on Wednesday asked AIIMS to prescribe a diet chart for the Chief Minister after considering his sugar records and the fact that he is a Type 2 diabetes patient with chronic constipation and cough (chronic bronchitis), who is under regular treatment, ” the ED counsel said.

However, advocate Vivek Jain, appearing for CM Kejriwal, opposed the federal agency’s submission saying the ED counsel is playing by the gallery and making statements for the media.

After a brief hearing, the court sought a medical report from Tihar Jail authorities on the CM’s diet and listed the matter for hearing on Friday.

While the ED’s allegations were made in court on Thursday, the issue has been doing the rounds on social media since Wednesday.

According to a post on X, one of the netizen’s sources in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) revealed that CM Kejriwal is taking high-sugar food deliberately to increase his sugar level so that he can use it as a reason to get bail.

“He is not only forcing the jail authorities to give him sugar-laden high glycemic index drinks and food early in the morning, but his family is also sending him sugar and carb-laden food so that his blood sugar rises, ” the post read.

CM Kejriwal’s lawyers had gone at length detailing his health conditions earlier, saying he was diabetic when he was sent to judicial custody.

Kejriwal’s counsel had informed the court that his blood sugar level dropped to 46 and argued that in such circumstances, he should be allowed to consult his doctor three times a week via video conferencing.
