‘Opportunistic politics’: BJP MP Meenakashi Lekhi after Delhi CM tears copy of farm laws

Hours after Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tore the copies of three farm laws in Assembly, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Meenakashi Lekhi slammed Delhi CM, saying that the three farm laws were published in the Delhi Gazette on November 23, and that they were tearing up the copies of the act after notifying.

Lekhi called Kejriwal the new chameleon who can just change colours without qualms.

“Fraud being played on the citizens of this country. On 23rd November 2020 same laws have been notified by Delhi govt. Opportunist CM play acting for the cameras !” Lekhi tweeted.

“Arvind Kejriwal puts Chameleons to shame when it comes to changing colours within seconds. After notifying one of the farm laws in Delhi, he torn the copies of the Acts in Delhi Assembly today! He is the expert of U-turns and a champion of politics of bluff,” Lekhi added.

Kejriwal today tore copies of the Centre’s three new farm laws in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, saying that he could not betray the farmers protesting against three new laws.

“I am pained that I have to do this. I did not intend to, but I cannot betray the farmers of my country who have been sleeping on the streets in the cold when the temperature is just 2 degrees Celsius,” Kejriwal said.

Kejriwal further said more than 20 farmers have died during 20 days of protest and asked the Centre when it will wake up.

“What was the hurry to get the ordinance passed in Parliament during the COVID times ? It has happened for the first time that three bills were passed without voting in Rajya Sabha, even when several members were opposing the move,” said Kejriwal.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting since November 26, demanding an immediate withdrawal of the farm laws.
