14 days Institutional quarantine mandatory for passengers arriving from Europe and Middle East

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Monday conducted a meeting to review the precautionary measures on the backdrop of new Coronavirus variant found in Britain.

Night curfew will be clamped in all the Municipal Corporation jurisdictions in the state from December 22. This will last till 5th January 2021. The curfew will remain between 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Similarly, all those passengers arriving from Europe and Middle East countries will have to go mandatory institutional quarantine for 14 days while those arriving from other countries will have to be home Quarantine. More precautions are taken in the state due to the new Coronavirus and it is essential to remain alert for the next 15 days, the Chief Minister said.

The new virus detected in Britain is spreading with speed. The virulence of the virus will be known in coming days so the state has been taking more precaution and the international travelers should be strictly tested. The chief minister directed that all the passengers arriving in Maharashtra from entire European Nations and Middle East will have to be in institutional Quarantine for 14 days and this is made mandatory. 5 to 7 days after their quarantine period, their RT- PCR test will be conducted and they will be permitted to go home after completing the Quarantine duration.

The municipal commissioners of all the cities where international air buses arrive, should make arrangements for hotels and independent hospitals for the passengers to get Quarantine. Similarly, independent hospitals should be arranged for passengers coming from Europe and having the symptoms of new virus. Those entering Maharashtra from other countries should be checked and their hands should be stamp using the indelible ink and they should be made home Quarantine.
All the employees who are engage in testing the passengers from European Nations and Middle East countries, will be provided the PPE kits said Thackeray. He further said that if the passengers coming from Europe and Middle East have traveled within India, they should give the information about their traveling.

The Chief Minister also directed to take special care during the marriage ceremonies in the state.
