Three terrorists were killed by security forces in an encounter in Tral area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora district, police said on Friday.
According to the officials the gunfight started in Chewa Ular area of Tral on Thursday evening.
Chinar Corps-Indian Army in a tweet said, “Op Chewa (#Pulwama). Operation update. 01 more terrorist eliminated (Total 03 Terrorists eliminated). Joint Operation in progress.”
Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
As the security forces approached, the hiding terrorists fired upon them, which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.
Chinar Corps-Indian Army tweeted on Thursday, “Op Chewa (#Pulwama). Joint Operation was launched today evening on @JmuKmrPolice inputs. Cordon was laid & contact established. Firefight ensued. Operation in progress.”
