India’s COVID-19 cases rise to 4,90,401; Death toll at 15,301

The number of coronavirus cases in India have risen to 4,90,401 as it recorded 17,296 fresh infections in the last 24 hours. A total of 15,301 coronavirus patients have lost their lives, the Union Health Ministry said on Friday.

There are 1,89,463 active cases while 2,85,636 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.

Maharashtra remains the worst affected state in the country. The total number of COVID-19 cases has risen to 1,47,741 with 6,931 fatalities.

Delhi has the second highest COVID-19 cases – 73,780 with 2,429 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu – 70,977 cases and 911 deaths, Gujarat – 29,520 cases and 1,753 fatalities.

A total of 77,76,228 samples have been tested so far of which 2,15,446 samples have been tested in the last 24 hours, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said.
