No IPL matches, other sports events in Delhi amid coronavirus threat: Manish Sisodia

Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia on Friday announced that no Indian Premier League (IPL) matches will take place in the National Capital amid coronavirus outbreak.

Delhi will not host the IPL. Sports activities, seminars, conferences where people will gather in huge numbers will not be organized, Sisodia said in a press conference.

He asked people to maintain social distancing to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

This came a day after the Delhi government ordered closure of all cinema halls, schools and colleges in the national capital till March 31.

“Delhi govt has declared Coronavirus an epidemic. We need to exercise abundant caution to contain the disease. All cinema halls, schools, colleges in Delhi will be shut until 31st March, but exams will continue as scheduled. People are advised to stay away from public gatherings,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said.
