The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) on August 10 issued a notice, seeking a report over rape of a six-year-old girl of a New Delhi Municipal Council School (NDMC) in the Gole Market area of the city.
NHRC issued a notice to the Chief Secretary, Delhi Government and the Delhi Commissioner of Police (DCP), calling for a detailed report in the matter within the time frame of four weeks.
While, the DCW has sought a report from the Delhi police and the government school on the same matter by August 16, 2018.
The incident came to light when the six-year-old girl narrated the ordeal to her parents after returning from school on August 8, a police official said.
“The victim identified the man and he was arrested. He was working in the school since last 1.5-2 months and is currently being interrogated. Investigation in the matter is underway. Spot, where the incident took place, had no CCTV camera,” the police said.
The accused is identified as Ram Asre (37), has been working in the school for around a month and is a permanent electrician employed with the NDMC.
The police have registered an FIR on the basis of the complaint filed by the girl’s parents and further investigations are on.
