Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday sharpened his attack on the Centre over the Farm bills passed by both the Houses of Parliament.
Rahul compared the bills with the Centre’s GST system and said the contentious legislation would enslave farmers.
He also expressed his support for a shutdown called by farmers’ organisations.
“A flawed GST destroyed MSMEs. The new agriculture laws will enslave our Farmers. #ISupportBharatBandh,” Rahul tweeted.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi also hit out at the government, saying the farm bills brought by it are a reminder of the “East India Company rule”.
The MSP (minimum support price) of the farmers will be taken away and they will be forced to become slaves of billionaires through contract farming, Priyanka Gandhi tweeted.
“Neither will they get the price nor respect. A Farmer will become a labourer on his own land,” she said.
“We will not let this injustice happen,” she added.
Several farmers’ organisations, including from Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have called for a protest on Friday against the three bills, which were passed by both houses of Parliament.
