Legendary singer SP Balasubramanyam passed away at the age of 74 at a private hospital in Chennai on Friday.
Balasubramanyam had tested positive for Covid-19 and was undergoing treatment at MGM healthcare in Chennai.
According to reports Balasubramanyam had been admitted on August 5th and commenced on life support measures since August 14th for severe COVID-19 pneumonia. Despite maximal life support his condition deteriorated in the last 24 hours and he died due to cardio-respiratory arrest.
“We confirm that sadly Thiru SP Balasubrahmanyam has passed away at MGM Healthcare Chennai. Our thoughts and condolences remain with the family and loved ones at this difficult time,” MGM healthcare said in an official statement.
He sang over 40 thousand songs in more than 5 languages. He sang many great songs in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and Malayalam languages.
