India has achieved another landmark in its fight against COVID-19 by conducting more than six lakh tests in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry said on Friday.
“India achieves another landmark. More than 6 lakh tests done in 24 hours,” the Health Ministry tweeted.
“The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare continues to implement the strategy of comprehensive testing, tracking and treatment to effectively tackle the COVID19 pandemic,” it said.
“The objective is to raise the testing capacity to 10 lakhs tests per day in the medium term,” it added.
On July 27, PM Modi launched three high throughput COVID-19 testing facilities via video conferencing These facilities are located at the National Institutes of Indian Council of Medical Research, at Kolkata, Mumbai and Noida.
He said, “at present, more than 5 lakh tests are being conducted in the country daily, and efforts are underway to increase this capacity to 10 lakh in the coming weeks.”
