Monsoon Arrives In Mumbai; Trains Running Late, Flights Hit Due To Bad Weather

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday declared the onset of the monsoon over Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra.

According to IMD Deputy Director KS Hosalikar, “Heavy to very heavy rainfall was recorded in the suburbs of Mumbai till 8.30 am on Saturday.”  IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall in the city today, and has advised people to stay indoors.

Due to heavy rain, trains on the suburban sector of the central railway were running late.

According to Sunil Udasi, Chief PRO of CR, “There was a case of wall debris falling on tracks in the morning on Down slow line. The debris was removed immediately and for some time, trains on Down slow line were diverted to the fast line,” he added.

Meanwhile flights arriving and departing from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport were delayed because of the bad weather.
