Gitanjali group promoter and diamantaire Mehul Choksi, who defrauded public sector banks of several thousand crore rupees has moved to Antigua and got a local passport there.
As per sources, Mehul Choksi fled from United States to the island of Antigua to save himself from the extradition as India doesn’t have an extradition treaty with the country. Mehul fled India in the month of January before the accusations came into light, since then the Investigation agencies have been searching for him.
Investigative agencies CBI and ED had issued non-bailable warrant against him, after which “red corner” notice was issued by the Interpol.
