The Maharashtra government on Wednesday allowed resumption of Metro Rail services from October 15, in a graded manner as part of its “Mission Begin Again”.
After the announcement, the Mumbai Metro thanked the Maharashtra government for allowing metro operations and said it will resume operations from October 19.
“@MumMetro is thankful to Government of Maharashtra for allowing metro operations. We have already initiated safety inspections and trial runs, and are set to restart passenger operations from Monday, 19th October 2020, 8:30 am,” it said in a tweet.
“Mumbai Metro One is ready to resume its services again. Following all safety and hygiene measures, we’re ready to welcome our Metrokars back on Monday, Oct 19, 2020,” it added.
Moreover, the government and private libraries will also be allowed to resume, local weekly bazaars can also restart their operations and business-to-business exhibitions have also been permitted outside containment zones.
With an aim to reduce crowds, markets and shops will also be permitted to remain open for an additional two hours till 9 pm starting October 15.
However, Schools, colleges, educational and coaching institutions in the state remain closed for students and regular class activity till October 31.
