In a tragic incident, Gurunath Waman Lasne, vice-president of Thane district’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit died in an accident on Monday evening. He was 55.
The accident happened around 6 pm after Lasne’s WagonR car was hit by a speeding private bus near Saravali village in Bhiwandi.
As per the sources, the bus hit one of many potholes on the road and then collided with the car in which Gurunath was traveling.
The driver of the bus is absconding after the accident.
The police have registered a case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Sections 304(A),184 and 279 and the search has begun for the driver.
