Shiv Sena leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday filed his nomination from Worli constituency for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. He was accompanied by his father and Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray.
He is the first of his family to contest an election since his grandfather Bal Thackeray founded the Shiv Sena.
Aaditya filed his nomination after a huge roadshow in Mumbai. Hundreds of workers turned up in a show to support their leader.
He waved and greeted his supporters from an open vehicle as the rally passed through streets of Worli.
Ahead of filing his nomination, Aaditya offered prayers before a photograph of Shiv Sena founder and grandfather Bal Thackeray.
Maharashtra will vote on October 21 and the results will be announced on October 24.
