The Delhi government on Friday said that the coronavirus lockdown will not be extended in the national capital despite a surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths.
The lockdown in Delhi will not be extended, said Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain on being asked if there have been discussions to extend lockdown in the National Capital.
Jain’s remarks came a day after the city witnessed its highest single-day spike in COVID-19 cases as it recorded 1,877 fresh COVID-19 infections on Thursday.
Delhi has so far recorded 34,687 COVID-19 cases with 1,085 deaths. There are 20,871 active cases while 12,731 have been cured/discharged, according to Health Ministry data.
