A Lion Air Boeing 737 passenger plane with 188 people on board crashed minutes after it took off from Jakarta, Indonesian officials said.
Flight JT-610 was scheduled from the Indonesian capital to Pangkal Pinang, the main city in the Bangka Belitung Islands.
According to the reports, it lost contact with ground control a few minutes after take-off, as it was above the sea.
Flight JT610 took off around 6.20am and was scheduled to land in the capital of the Bangka-Belitung at 7.20am.
As per the Lion air official, they are trying to collect all the information and data. A search and rescue operation has been launched.
