The Karnataka government on Monday slashed the petrol and diesel prices by Rs 2 per litre each.
The decision was announced by Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in Kalaburagi in wake of rising petrol and diesel prices.
While addressing the media, the Karnataka CM said, “Today, we are taking a decision that we are going to reduce fuel prices in the state by Rs 2 per litre on both petrol and diesel.”
He further said that new petrol and diesel prices will reportedly be applicable from tonight.
The announcement has come a few days after Karnataka’s neighbouring state, Andhra Pradesh on September 10, had slashed the prices of petrol and diesel by Rs. 2 per litre.
Moreover, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also decided to cut down cess on petrol and diesel in the state on September 11, thereby reducing the fuel prices by Re 1 per litre.
Rajasthan Government on September 9, issued orders for reduction of Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel by four percent, providing a relief of Rs 2.5 per litre on petrol and diesel.
