Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his comments against his father and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
“Modi Ji, The battle is over. Your Karma awaits you. Projecting your inner beliefs about yourself onto my father won’t protect you. All my love and a huge hug,” Rahul tweeted.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and senior party leader P Chidambaram have condemned the Prime Minister Modi’s statement.
“Mr Modi has crossed all limits of propriety and decency by defaming a man (Rajiv Gandhi) who died in 1991,” Chidambaram tweeted.
Priyanka said, “the people of Amethi will give a befitting reply to PM Modi for disrespecting the martyrdom of an “honest and pure man”.
Sam Pitroda, Indian Overseas Congress chief also said, “We are all very shocked and disappointed by comments by PM Modi about a great leader Rajiv Gandhi. How low one can get?”
“I am a Gujarati from mahatma Gandhi s and Sardar Patel’s soil. I cannot believe that our PM Modi is also from the same soil. What is wrong with him? How can he go so low? Is he rattled?” he added.
On Saturday, PM Modi in an attack at Rahul for tarnishing his image over Rafale deal, Modi had said that life of Congress President’s father ended as “corrupt number 1”.
