The first of the five-phase polling for the Jharkhand Assembly election began today.
Thirteen constituencies in six districts of Jharkhand will go to polls in the first phase of the Jharkhand Assembly election.
The voting began at 7 am and conclude at 3 pm, Election Commission officials said.
A total of 37,83,055 electorate, including 18,01,356 women and five third gender voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in the first phase.
The fate of 189 candidates will be decided in the first phase of polling.
Prominent candidates in the fray are Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee and Jharkhand Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi and Jharkhand PCC president Rameshwar Oraon.
The Jharkhand Assembly polls, which is spread over 5 phases, will conclude on December 20 and the counting of votes is scheduled on December 23.
