Two militants were killed on Friday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area after receiving specific information about the presence of militants there.
“The hiding militants opened fire at the security forces, triggering an encounter,” a police officer said.
Jammu and Kashmir police earlier tweeted, “Exchange of fire at Kralgund #Handwara. SF on job. Details shall follow.”
According to the reports, the firing has stopped.
