Two Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists were killed on Friday in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town.
According to a police spokesperson, based on a “credible input” about the presence of terrorists in Warpora area of Sopore, a cordon and search operation was launched by security forces in the area.
“As the searches were going on, the search party was fired upon by the terrorists. The fire was retaliated leading to an encounter,” he said.
Mobile and internet services have been suspended in Sopore and adjoining areas.
There was no collateral damage reported.
Police have recovered incriminating material including arms and ammunition from the site of encounter.
