One terrorist was killed on Tuesday in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Awantipora.
The gunfight broke out in Saimoh area of Tral. Jammu and Kashmir police and security forces are carrying out the search operation in the area.
The operation is currently underway.
Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet said, “#Encounter has started at #Saimoh area of #Tral #Awantipora. Police and security forces are on the job. So far, 01 #terrorist killed. Operation going on. Further details shall follow.”
According to Army officials, terrorists were given a chance to surrender. Announcements were made for them to surrender but they opened fire resulting in an encounter in which one terrorist was killed.
Chinar Corps-Indian Army in a tweet said, “Joint operation launched on 02 Jun on specific intelligence. Cordon laid. Contact established early morning. Announcements made for terrorists to surrender. Firefight ensued. One terrorist killed. Operation in progress.”
