A terrorist was killed on Saturday in an encounter with security forces in Verinag area of Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir.
The security forces had received specific information about the presence of terrorists in the area after which the gunfight broke out.
Kashmir Zone police earlier said in a tweet, “Brief exchange of #fire between #Security forces & #terrorists in #Verinag. Further details shall follow.”

On June 7, four terrorists, including two special police officers (SPO)s who had deserted recently, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama district of the state. According to the officials, the terrorists reportedly belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
