Ansar Ghazwat Ul Hind chief, Zakir Rashid Bhat also known as Zakir Musa, was killed in an encounter with security forces in a village in South Kashmir’s Tral, officials said on Friday.
The encounter broke out between militants and security forces at Dadsara village in the Tral area of Pulwama district on Thursday night.
“In a major success against terrorism in South Kashmir @JmuKmrPolice & Security forces eliminated Zakir Rashid Bhat@Zakir Musa Chief Commander and Founder of #AnsarGazwatulHind;only surviving terrorist of erstwhile Burhan group,” Jammu and Kashmir police said in a tweet.
“Active from six years he was involved in number of terrorist activities.The terrorist was carrying rocket,grenade launchers,projectiles,huge ammunition and war like stores,” Jammu and Kashmir police added.
Meanwhile, mobile internet services have been suspended across valley and all educational institutions will remain shut on Friday.
