Four militants were killed on Friday in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district, police said.
Officials said, the militants reportedly belonged to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) outfit.
Jammu and Kashmir police said in a tweet, “Four terrorists have been eliminated. They reportedly belong to JeM.Operation over. More details to follow.”
On Thursday, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Panjran area of Pulwama after receiving specific information about presence of the militants there.
An encounter broke out as the hiding militants opened fire at the security forces, who retaliated, said officials.
Mobile Internet services in Pulwama district have been suspended as a precautionary measure.
