An encounter broke out Saturday morning between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian.
After receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in Gahand area of Shopian, security forces launched a cordon and search operation there.
As the cordon was tightened, the terrorists fired upon security forces, triggering an encounter, an officer said.
The forces retaliated and exchange of firing was going on, officer added.
Jammu and Kashmir police tweeted, “Exchange of fire at #Shopian. Area under cordon. Details shall follow.”
