Coronavirus Pandemic: Cases in India rises to 67,152, Death toll at 2,206

COVID-19 cases in India has risen to 67,152, with 2,206 fatalities. There are 44,029 active cases while 20,916 have been cured/discharged, the Health Ministry said on Monday.

Maharashtra has highest COVID-19 cases – 22,171, followed by Gujarat – 8,194, Tamil Nadu – 7,204, Delhi – 6,923, Rajasthan – 3,814, Madhya Pradesh – 3,614 and Uttar Pradesh – 3,467.

Indian Railways on Sunday announced that it will gradually restart passenger train operations from May 12, initially with 15 pairs of trains (30 return journeys). These trains will be run as special trains from New Delhi Station connecting Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Madgaon, Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad and Jammu Tawi. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a meeting with chief ministers today afternoon to discuss post lockdown exit strategy.

Globally, the COVID-19 cases have crossed the four-million mark. Out of all the countries affected, the United States has been worst affected with more than 1.3 million cases and nearly 80,000 deaths.
